Here is the situation. I am currently running a pair of pioneer 6 1/2" three ways, and while they do not sound bad off of my eclipse 2212, they lack the midrange I am looking for. I am going to leave the door panels stock for now as I have some other issues to deal with, but I would like a richer cleaner midrange. These are going in the front of a 90 integra so they need to have good response off axis. If not I will just keep them untill I finish my diy set, but I would like something better for the mean time.

I guess its time to see if I can find a demo room. I have honestly never listened to polk, but I am open to suggestions. And if anyone is wondering, my hu is also an eclipse, 8053 to be exact, and I have one dd 3510 in back being pushed by a us amps md2. Any other opinions are welcome.

Sorry for the confusion, when I said I was running an eclipse 2212 I was refering to the amp I am running. It puts out around 60watts per channel (2 channel). That headunit doesnt have speaker level preouts. If I get a chance this weekend I Will listen to those polks and see what they think. I wish I knew someone who had them because i hate trying to compare speakers off a sound board. Are there any others I should check out while im there?

Basically they are loud, but the they lack the midbass and the highs sound like they are a little muddy (I cant really think of a good word to describe them, but if the highs were a little more acurate).

I dont mind spending some money but this isnt really a permanent fix. Its more something to keep me happy while I research into components and crossover design.

I looked at them, but I wasnt too impressed. Its not that I have anything against them, I just think they are slightly overpriced. The only reason I have those pioneers now is because I got 2 pairs of them for $50 new. Those mmc650 look pretty impressive on paper. I still havent had a chance to listen to them, hopefully this weekend I'll get a chance.

I got a chance to check out a couple stores, I listened to the alpine type r and s, the polks mentioned above, a pair of pioneer premiers and a couple others. Honestly I think I might go with the alpines. They were not bad at all. I didnt think that the polks sounded that much better then the alpine which where quite a bit cheaper. I also noticed that the polks have an external amp with the ability to biamp, but I do not see myself doing that in the near future. Any other suggestions are still welcome.
