i have a question with the bypass module and if i need one.  I don't have the big square key with the electronic chip in it, but i have been told that i still need a bypass module for the factory alarm.  I have the keypad entry on the drivers door as well as the factory theft alarm.  Do i need a bypass module???

hi,

no, you don't need a bypass module.  you'll need to find the factory alarm disarm lead (GREEN/ purple) in the drivers sill.  it shows a ground when the key in the door is turned to unlock.  connect to remote start/alarm module's factory disarm output.  hope this helps

Ween is correct. You do NOT need a bypass module on this vehicle, contrary to some of "installers" on this forums information.
I just finished putting a Commando EZ-2500 in my 97 Eddie Bauer Explorer with keypad on the door, "THEFT" light on the instrument cluster, and it has the factory hood pin switch - this vehicle does not need a bypass or transponder!!!!! I hooked up the units Alarm disarm to the GREEN/ purple wire that is behind the plastic and rubber covers by the parking brake. There are a lot of wires - you may have to dig a bit, but I only found one GREEN/ purple. Good luck.
