to answer your question it won't casue any problems to you amp and that is a definate option that you have. the only issue would be to set the gains on the amp accordingly and the output voltage on the mp3 player may be low causing a lowering of the sound quality but mp3's have pretty shhhty sound quality anyway so go for it. and the adapter that you need to buy is anywhere from $2 at radioshack to $20 for a monster cable.

That would be a pretty cool setup actually, then you could smooth the dash, run all your wiring so you have a plug hidden up front, then just plug in your player and go. Plus most mp3 players now are made with enough features to function as well as a deck. Im really digging the idea of having the smooth dash.

Those adapters look fine if you are only pushing 2 speakers. Otherwise you have to find an adapter with 2-3 sets of outputs like any decent head unit has. If you want to push more speakers you may have some splicing to after all.
