Headlight/taillight flash

I want to make my headlights and taillights flash.    My headlights go one, then the other, then back.  That tails go from both tails to 3rd brake, then back to both tails.

I know someone on here would know what I need and how to do it. It is on a 95 dodge neon.

This would be an independent system, not operational when the headlights are on.

Any help would be SUPER appreciated.

Well I won't go into deep details or anything but the first step in doing something like this would be to isolate the headlights..The headlights are wired together and until you isolate them there is no way to flash one without flashing both..So use relays or diodes and isolate both headlights first, then you can work on alternating flashing..All you really need is a relay, a common auto flasher, and possibly some resistors or a dummy bulb if the headlights aren't enough for the flasher. Same thing with the taillights..Not exact instructions but gives you an idea of what you need..Later,

Well I will try to help you understand more about what you asked. First of all, Some cars have separate bulbs for the headlights and the brights. For the flashing headlights you always use the brights. If you are dealing with a single bulb, You will have 3 wires leading to the bulb and 2 wires to each bulb if they are separate. You must find the wire that gets power when your brights are turned on (on both sides of the vehicle). You must get a flasher pack, Or a 537 or 550 flasher (the terminals on these flashers alternate). You must cut the wire that gets power when the brights are on leaving enough space to work with the wires on both sides (cut the brights output wire on both sides of the vehicle). There are 2 output terminals on all flashers. Connect one output to one side of the vehicles brights (since you cut the wire, you must connect the output to the bulb side of the wire). And of course do the same on the other side of the vehicle. Make a ground in the chassis for a flasher pack. Or for the flashers you just run a power wire inside to a switch with 12 volt DC. At this time your brights should alternate when the power wire gets power.    NOTE: Your headlights will remain operational, But your brights will not operate anymore.  If you don't mind, Go for it. You can make your brights work if you overide them with relays. You do not need any diodes for this job.   Have fun working on your car.

 wig wag flasher for the headlights

and a tighlight flasher for the back end

there about 30-50 each i think

Ya I am contemplating buying one. I just thought it would be more fun to build one.

Light it up, thank you! That is what I needed and I understand it. Now it all comes down to if it is worth it or not. I WOULD though like to have complete control over the system and be able to make changed as time goes on.
