Has anyone installed the steering remote, CD-SR11 with their AVIC-D1? Is there a wire connected to the IR "eye" and this wire goes to the back of the unit while the "eye" itself is installed somewhere close to the steering wheel?   Or, is this competely wireless and the front screen iself works as a big "eye"? How good is this remote? Just checking before buying one.
Thanks.

Its completely wireless.  The screen has a little eye on the bottom section of it.  Works great for me, I got used to the functions because they used to include this in the standalone navigation systems, so it make take you a little while to "memorize" where to hit with your fingers and thumb

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't have to take the NAV unit out to install this remote. It took more than an hour to fit it nicely and don't want to repeat it unless necessary. Based on your reply, I guess this thing is mounted on the steering wheel and that's it.....Sweet.
I will order one. My wife wants the added convenience.
