looking for a wiring diagram for a 2002 hyundai santa fa.  I'm installing a remote start in it this weekend and a wiring diagram would cut a little time of the install.  thanks.

its easier and takes less time to grab an injector wire for tach , instead of tearing apart the counsel to gain access to the ECM. i just did 2 of these vehicles and it saved time for me going directly to an injector. just my 2 cents. other than that, the car is a breeze

The hoodpin wire is accessible inside the car, which is pretty cool.  Not sure if all models have factory hoodpin though.  The tach wire isn't hard to get at the ECM---it's only five screws to remove the panel.  But I did a 2003 yesterday, and couldn't find the tach there at all.

The wires going to the ignition switch are very short.  A co-worker of mine says that if you unplug the harness with the key on, it trips the check engine light.  I usually reach up there, test and identify the wires......then turn the key off, remove it, and then unplug the harness and stretch it down to make connections.

Hey Chris, have you had any luck in disabling the OEM security WITHOUT the remote key FOB ? Is there in fact a wire to disable the OEM systems ? Just curious because I will be doing a newer 2003 Tiburon soon and they want the OEM alarm disabled prior to start ( and so do I ) and re-engaged afterwards.

according to techsoft factory alarm only disarms with factory remote, but it will disarm upon remote starting the vehicle.

Jeff, I've only done a few Hyundais, and the dealer we go to is too cheap to even pay for the door locks to be hooked up at all---they make the customer carry two remotes---so I've never had a chance to get into it.

If your customer's budget allows, you could always open up a factory remote, solder wires to it, and trip it with relays from your aftermarket remote start.  I did this on a Grand Cherokee once when I didn't have the special Jeep module, and it only took me about twenty minutes.

If the factory remote uses a 12-volt battery, remove it and tie the remote into the car's battery.  If the remote battery is not 12 volts, tie the remote somewhere accessible, since the battery will need to be replaced occasionally.
