Hello folks,
I am new to the site, first post. I consider myself at least knowledgeable on computers and have taken some courses on electronics and whatnot. I have a somewhat dim/light grasp on these kinda things. I am 18.
Anyway long story short, I am planning to install my first car alarm/starter on my 1993 Honda Civic DX hatchback. I just purchased an Autopage RS-720LCD unit from eBay (hopefully it comes).
I was just wondering how easy or hard is it to install an alarm/starter system in a vehicle? I just got the wiring schematics from this site (told me to go to Bulldog security) and so I now know at least which colors to look for.
I plan to also do a backup battery install for siren, and also a fuel pump cutoff switch. First thing I just need to do is just install first.
Does anyone have material or tips they would like to share with me regarding installations?
BTW: Is there a way to check if the alarm unit is working fine before I hook it up? I would hate to spend hours installing it and find out the unit is bad, especially when its on eBay.
Thanks.
Mike from Canada :)

If you are concerned about the alarm not working, you should not have been shopping on E-Bay in the first place. What you thought might be a good deal, can turn into a nightmare and huge $ in the blink of an eye. Any alarm is only as good as the install. If you have the proper tools to do the job, there are plenty of experienced people here on the site to step you through it.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Yes but hopefully that is not the case for mine.   This seller has sold to over 30,000+ people and has a 98.9% rating. Hopefully my case will be within the 98.9%.

Also you know those starter kill relays that come with the alarms? Do those pulg in somewhere in the car, or am I just going to hook up wires to it and then put it away with the brain?

So what would you recommend Bobk? Any better thing than to kill the fuel pump?

Does anyone know if the AutoPAge RS-720LCD can work for both manual and automatic transmissions?

Anyways I am going to get another siren (no battery backup) so where should I hook it up to?
I plan to have two non-battery backup siren and 1 battery backup siren.
Where should I hook up the non battery siren to and the other battery to?
THANKS
