get the 230 amp alt or bigger if you can. dont worry about a second battery, thats just another item you're alt has to keep up with. make sure your current batt is in good shape.   what brand is that 2400 mono amp???  extra betteries only really help when the you are playing music with the truck not running.

If upgrading your altenator to a larger output, find out at what rpm the alternator must turn to put out the amperage that it is stating. If the rpm has to be at 6000 to produce 230, then it would be useless unless you were to drive in 1st gear all day. Also make sure that your battery is good, as a deminshing battery will put a load against the alternator and rob power. You may want to see if there is an automotive electric specialist in your town. Not the dealerships, but a shop that only works on automotive electric.
