I have a customer that has a 05 caravan and the two keys she has are the ones with the keyfob built in. I directed her the local dodge dealership to get a valet key made to use for the remote start (pay 50 instead of 120 for the key) They told her the regular grey sentry keys will not work, that she needs to purchase the more expensive keyfob and key in one. I have never had this issue before and think it may be a case of a service tech not knowing what they are talking about, but was wondering if anyone else has ever had this issue. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Your right, they don't know what they are talking about. A company called Hightech Locksmiths comes out to any dealer and will make it for you. They work the east coast and have made many standard gray sentry keys for us on new Caravans that only have the keyless entry keys. www.hightechlocksmiths.com

Another alternative is to order the key from Ebay and get Ace hardware to cut it for free, then program yourself. I just bought one for my Sebring for 10 bucks....

why not just use the 556C and dispense with needing a key?

They're just trying to rip her off. The nature if a dealer. Especally bad against women cause they believe they have no idea what they are talking about

We always use the PKU-CH2 system for the newer Caravan's and then you don't need to purchase an additional key. Retains all security & also is cheaper than a replacement key + bypass module box.

I came across the same problem at a dealership I do work for. The parts guy first told me that there is no such key but I proved him wrong after bringing my own. He later admitted that they could get the key but he preferred to sell the expensive remote key mainly because he made more $ on that piece.

Velocity don't you still need 2 keys to program the module? I remember a dealer had a girl remove the remote start from her car which we installed, then put in theres. Gues what it was the same model remote start, infact we installed it again. Because we do work for the dealer.
