I'm trying to find out where I can get some liquid acrylic.  And what kind is the best to use.

What is your plan for it? If you are doing non structural things with it, look into Fine Art stores. Little bit pricy, but you will get excellent clarity. As for structural stuff, I will need to get to one of my friends on that.

He's done some work with it and it looks good. From sub boxes that have been melted into shape to seats made out of acrylic (suprisingly comfortable I might add)

I'm trying to make an insert  for the roof of my car. The plan is to have a clear acrylic that can be dyed red. Then I'll put a black cutout in front of it to get the logo I want. Then the top will be plexiglass. I'm wanting the acrylic to give it a better glow by scratching the back of it.

Starting to make sense now. One question though:

Is this more like a sunroof (embedded) or more like a display set upright (bad example but like a taxi?)

It will be embeded  , I want it to be flush with the head liner.

Sorry abut the late reply. Our friend recommended that you just use 2 sheets of 3/16" (or 1/4" ; 1/8" if the insert is smal and doesn't go to the outside) Lexan plexiglass. MUST be Lexan. the cheaper stuff won't hold shape well and discolors after some time.

============================ < Plexi

------------------------------------------------- < High Quality Red Tint

            --------------------                        < Black Logo

============================ < Plexi

For backlighting (If the insert doesn't go outside the car), we recommend using EL (ElectroLuminescent) Sheets from places like eBay. Some of those items do realy well and gives a brad area for backlighting.

PM us if you have any more questions.

sounds cool, but instead of using tint they sell red pigments that you can add to the liquid acrylic, it would be a lot eassier and last forever < =text/>

I've been trying to get my hands on some liquid acrylic and acrylic dye for a couple months now.  I found the exact stuff I was looking for at the link below.  Now, it won't let me order it though. The "Buy It" button doesn't work, and they don't respond to my emails.  I hate being stuck in the middle of  a project.  If anyone knows how I can this stuff, please let me know.
