Hey,

I have a 99 Prelude with a factory alarm. I want to remove it to install the Audiovox 996 with remote start. Is it easy to remove the factory alarm? Can I just unplug the head to make it dead? The head would be underneath the steering wheel area correct? Thanks for the help.

This alarm is very primative. It cannot be disable with the key through the keyhole, only with the Honda transmitter.

Try removing it and try starting your vehicle. If your car won't start, then you have to leave it in there and ensure that you don't use your OEM remote control to arm / lock the doors.

I removed the brain , and afterward, the passenger unlock/ lock will not work ( the popping up , down  moving part). The driver side works though. Car starts up fine. Any idea? Thanks.

Actually, I think passenger side lock is dead. I tried plugging in the alarm and still same thing. Can anyone tell me what the OEM alarm green plug wires represent? i.e. lock , unlock, trigger, etc. I think black / white is door unlock?? This would save me a whole day of finding the wires. Thanks.

You can find door trigger, trunk trigger, horn honk, and negative light flash at the factory alarm plug. Locks are usually found in the passenger kickpanel.

Yup. But I don't know the color wiring codes at the factory alarm plug ( GREEN). Hopefully someone can shed some light for me what they are for. I feel with the OEM alarm, the wires are all over the place, very different from an earlier Prelude without OEM alarm. So I'd rather use the wires from the plug.
