will subs abuse other trunk speakers?

I have always had either trucks or vans but now I have a car. I'm thinking that trunk mounted subs would make passive radiators out of the deck speakers, but I've never heard of anyone using baffels. I want to be extra sure about this before I install anything else.

Yes subs will interfere with the rear deck speakers. This is another reason for foam hats or plastic baffles. Realize that by putting these baffles onto the speakers will limit their low end response however. American Internation and XTC make speaker baffles for this application.

Subs are the bullies of the trunk.  They like to beat up on the smaller, weaker speakers.  You might want to strap down the lug wrench tightly just in case.
