Care to elaborate a bit more, or are you just fishing?

i'm just seeing what other proffessionals seem to think, i like the security by-pass's and the warrenty, as well as adaptation to other products, i wont however go into detail on what i don't like, but i can tell you that range is one thing that has been frustrating, and i'd like to hear what others have to say.

so if by "fishing" you mean trying to start something, i'd have to say no, i wanted some info.......that is all.

so......

canada's cold eh.

DEI does what they say. If they claim 1000ft of range, generally, when installed properly, they will do that.
As far as quality? I dunno.... the 3 or so units I send back a year out of 350 or so isn't a bad ratio at all. The remotes seem to hold up not too badly.
As with anything, it all boils down to proper installation. Solid grounds, solid wire connection methods (leave the T taps and Scotchlocks at the 3M factory that should be burned down), and they work just fine.
There, is that better????

What do you mean by "installed properly"? You do everything they say and the range is still no where near what they advertise. Maybe it is in an open field with antenna outside the car...

well the antenna is on the windshield so it doesnt need to be outside the car... and distances given are line of sight... which is exactly like being in an open field.....

i find their quality to be as good as any and better than many..... and range is as advertised... in fact DEI tends to be fairly conservative in their distance ratings...i've had units with distance "ratings" of 200 meters do about 2 city blocks "line of sight"......

of course as gus mentioned this is based on proper grounds etc. during the installation process... a weakly installed unit is going to perform weakly.....

For instance.
Had a 2005 Grand Prix in here the other day. Now, usually, the actual steel kick panel is a pretty solid ground. Customer had all of 600 feet of range on his 791XV. Not good. So, broke out the meter, and lo and behold a whopping 30ish ohms to the battery ground. Did a new body ground, suddenly, this drops to about an ohm. Magically... the range jumped up to an easy 1200 feet (it was cold out, I got tired of walking.... and this is verified by my walking tape measure.)
Ground makes a surprising difference... especially in a GM lately.
