I'm installing an alarm with remote start in a 2001 Suburban. But I want the domelight to function exactly like with the factory alarm. It stays on for about 30secs upon exiting the vehicle and it also stays on upon disarming. But it immediatly shuts off if you arm the factory alarm. How can I accomplish this with an aftermarket alarm? Also, how do I bypass the retained accessory feature so the radio doesnt stay on after shutting down the remote start?

To turn off the radio after shutting down the remote start you can pulse the grey wire in the drivers side doorboot with the automatic re-arm from the remote start.  I have found it in the BCM under the steering column in the past, it is grey and I think it is in the far right plug.  Just close the doorlatch with the door open with a screwdriver or a scribe and turn the car on then off.  The radio will remain on for some time.  Start pulsing until the radio shuts off.  Connect the automatic rearm to this wire.  BTW, it is a negative pulse.  As far as the dome light, off the top of my head, you could use a timer relay to delay the dome light from going off after the car is locked from the remote start.

Can you go into a bit more detail about this timer relay and how would I wire it up?

Pretty easy.  Can be purchased at most stereo shop that do R/S and alarms, or ebay.  Commonly used for window/sunroof modules, motorized amp racks, linear actuators, and stuff like that.  The common 12v and ground, then instead of tying the dome output of the alarm to the dome on the car, you tie it to the timer.  From the timer you determine the polority and then tie into the dome.  Program the timer to stay on for 5, 10, 15 sec. and then shut off.  If you installed the R/S the timer will be a piece of cake.  Please don't hesitate to ask more questions.

purple plug pin B4 tan.  @ the BCM drivers door pin NEG(-) truigger will turn off the radio.pulse after run time. use the rearm wire from your unit. If you pulse this wire at the same time as lock, the dome light will go off.
