Hello I noticed that there is no source for the dimmer wire on the stock wiring harness for the radio. I was wondering what colour and the source would be for the dimmer.

I simply want my super bright Head Unit Pioneer Premier DEHP 860 MP to dimm when I turn on the lights or dimm the instrument cluster lights.

I searched but came up with nothing.

Thank You

Jeffrey

It depends on what your headunit harness has in it- a dimmer wire or an illumination wire.  Most aftermarket headunits do not have a dimmer wire- only illumination.  What this does is dim your headunit a set amount whenever your lights are on (not adjustable).  All you need to do is connect this wire to the parking light wire in your car.  This should be a RED / black wire at the keyless module in the driver's kickpanel.

If your unit does have a dimmer wire (again, it probably does not), you need to determine whether it's a positive or negative dimmer wire (should be positive), then check the wiring in your car to see whether it's positive or negative (should also be positive).  Then wire it up to the output of the dimmer switch.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

that is last years model i believe it should have an orange wire thats labeled illumination on the back and if u used a harness there should be a wire for illumination on it as well make sure u read the directions to make sure u have the right wires. once u do that u should turn off the radio hold down the function button and keep hitting it until the brightness function comes on then set it how u want to.  your owners manual should have more about this and double check all of your connections with a meter before u connect your wires
