Is this even possible? Can I just program the remote to the vehicle or do I have to wire all the doorlock stuff up?
This is for 2005 Dodge Ram quad cab.
Thanks

You can connect the factory keyless to the R/S depending on model & options.

Example:

DEI - Valet 561R has an option of one or two pulse activation, set it to two pulses and hook the positive input activation wire to the light green wire in the drivers kick panel of your Ram.  When you lock the vehicle twice in  five seconds from the factory key fob it will remote start and twice again shuts off. You can also manually  lock the doors twice  (door lock switch) to ge the same affect, making it easier to use the valet mode while running in the store and leaving the Ram rinning.
Pro's - Less wiring and quicker install
Con's - much shorter remote distance

Some people like this, some don't.

Thanks for the reply. I have heard of doing this, and that would have been my next question. My system is an Avital 3000, not sure if it has that input option you speak of, I will have a look at the manual when I get home.
The idea is to not have to carry around 2 remotes. I really don't want to tear into the door wiring, but I don't want to sacrifce range either. Anyways, i'll have a look at it.
Thanks
