command start starting on its own

1989 chev truck with an original command start fromkrause ind.  truck starts on its own ,unless i shut unit down with the valet.any ideas?

Doesn't C/S have Low Voltage or Temp. Auto Start??Use to install those a few years back & thought they had those features.........Just a thoughtMO

Awesome.... this sounds like a CS300i. You have 2 options. The first is to go into the programming and turn the timer/temp feature to off. For some reason, there was a software bug in those things that would make the vehicle randomly start all by itself.... think warp field collapse. Just wait... one of these days it'll latch and you aren't turning it off with anything except pulling the fuses on the unit. The other option is if it is a 290ic or a 310i, check the yellow wire on the unit. It may be contacting ground somehow. This is the negative start input. If it sees ground, it's going to start. Commonly used in conjunction with the temp. sensor, or to trigger the starter from an alarm system or the factory fob. Personally..... I would get a new unit. Parts are highly highly scarce for those things. I think I am down to maybe one flaky brain and a couple flaky remotes. Remember, they went bye bye almost 5 years ago now..... Gus Wherever I go, that is where I end up......

One other problem that I found on these CS units were the remote controls would activate with a breath ! You wouldn't even have to press the button ( just the casing ) and it would send the signal to the starter to turn over.Jeff

Most of the Command Start units that used an AM transmitter (black remote) had a problem that when the battery in the LCD remote got low they caused the vehicle to start. Upgrade the antenna and remotes to FM units fixed the problem.sparky

i fix the problem by taking out the old CS unit and putting in a new current day product with twice the features and twice the quality for half the price.....Kevin Gerry
