i have a 1999 mercury mystique and i am putting an after market stereo in it. i bought the wiring harness and hooked everything up and i am not getting any sound out of the passenger speakers. i had no sound out of them before the swap also. i hard wired the speaker wires into the the factory harness coming off of the amp figuring that the passenger side channel may have burnt out.....still same results. what could be causing this and how do i determine wether or not i have an amplifier in this car  because it does not premium stereo on the speaker grill but took that kind of wiring harness. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I am having a hard time understanding some of your post, sounds like you cant get sound out of half of your speakers, first thing would be to make sure they have a solid connection to the deck, and to the speakers.  Im not sure if your car has an amp, but I know some people on this board can give you a hand with it.  All of the stereo wiring diagrams will be on this site under the vehicle wiring database, just check it out there.

the mistique is like the contour and unless it had a grey cable with a silver plug there is no factory amplifier. and people please quit cutting off harnesses, please.

ok back to the matter at hand try installing new speakers for some reason maybe they have bad voice coils after all the speakers are 7 years old. also make sure your wiring on the amp bypass was correct but i think on that car the standard ford/mercury wire colors are different and it may also just be a coincidence that those are the 2 speakers that went out first. did u use an amp bypass plug or did u cut ?

There is no reason to waste anymore money until we diagnose the problem.Swap the speakers with the ones that are working.Lets see if they are bad or not.Plus if the good ones dont work we know we have other problems.
