I just got my MECP guide today and noticed that the current capacity for each wire size is much different than on the power and ground page on this forum. For example the chart in the guide states that 4awg wire has a capacity of only 59.6 amps rather than 150A...its rated at 680deg F if that makes a difference...but its confusing...do i have to go by the book for the test?
Its on page 92 of the basic installer study guide...funny thing is it says the chart is supposed to show the relationship between the AWG and diameter of the wire in inches, but rather has current capacity from 0-20AWG.
i'm confused.

i dont know but i will tell you all pro installers at some point in time have hooked up an ANL fuse holder to a 4 ga wire. but its their test if they say 59.6 amps i would definitely answer 59.6 amps. also if u really want to know awg vs. inches u can probably go to a college book store and buy a machinists handbook or quick reference guide. i had one in college it ran me $ 20 i think

the best part of a job is seeing the bumper get smaller over the horizon
