I have a 2002 2500HD diesel and I am trying to install a remote starter. The remote starter unit is a designtech and the bypass module is a dei 555LW. The problem I have come across is the unit doesn't seem to acknowledge the bypass module. Do I need a relay coming off the remote unit for the status wire on the bypass? Maybe I am doing something wrong. Thank you for any help.

Category:Combo Interface
Required:Yes
Type:Data Bus
Part#:457GW
Notes:Can use the 457GW to bypass the Passlock II, but it will not control the door locks on this model year.
This is what I would use....EASY!

you shouldn't need to use a relay inline there, and the RS unit doesn't have to acknowledge the bypass at all. All it has to do is provide a negative ouput on the status wire just before it cranks and the bypass takes care of the rest. As long as you program the bypass correctly, which for the 455LW I believe involves starting the truck with the key and letting it run for 5 seconds.
Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while; you could miss it.

I installed a remote starter in  my 2002 GMC 2500hd Duramax Diesel and after I start the truck using the unit the security light stays on.  If I shut the truck off then the light goes out. Also if I just start it with the key it doesn't stay on. Does anyone know if there is something I am not wiring correctly? I do have a factory alarm but nothing hooked up to disable. The unit works fine and doesn't set the alarm off it's just the security light comes on after I put the key in and srive the truck. Thank you for any asistence .

DFJ73.... what bypass did you use? if you used the 555l where you ahd to tap into the passlock wires, and your security light is staying on, try this. first did you ground the bypass using the passlock bypass or to a seperate ground. I have always found that grounding that unit seperatley from everything else gets rid of the security light, or it just never comes on at all. That would be the first thing i would look into.
