Hello everyone, first time poster here. Code Alarm CA630? -- posted image.

I have a question on my CA630 install? Do I need to install the Tach wire on this system? According to the factory instructions it says yes. But, the step by step instructions I have say's to just start the car 4 times upon completion. Nothing states this as having Tachless as a feature.

When I tried installing this before the car would start and stall & not stay running. I had all the wires and the bypass hooked up also. Would it hurt to have the tach wire hooked up? I heard that this might be why it doesn't stay running. So, I just wanted some more input. It's for my 2001 Chevy Cavalier.

Always use a tach for reliable first time starts. Tachless is for the lazy installer and is unreliable especially when the temperature starts to go below freezing.

Back to square one. Code Alarm CA630? -- posted image. I hooked up all the connections (brain & bypass) and the remote start still does not want to stay running. Can anyone give me some trouble shooting suggestions as to why this could be?

Also, the alarm feature seems to work fine, so far. I was wondering if I didn't have any luck w/ the remote start to just disconnect the RS harness from the brain and just use the alarm as a theft detterent. I don't think this would harm the brain? I would do this as a last resort as I would like to get to use all of the features that I paid for.

info: 2001 Chevy Cavalier, Code Alarm CA630, GMBP bypass kit.

are you sure the bypass is working properly? If you start with the key then try to remote start (pitstop mode) does it stay running when you turn off the key.

Hey Steve, Yes the pitstop mode does work fine. So does that mean the bypass is shot? It's a Bypasskit with clearcode VIP model# GMBP if that helps any.

Sorry for the double post.

When looking at the instructions for the Bypass Mod, I noticed on the programming instructions...well the module I have has no "jumpers" (A B) it just has pins where the harness connects, a small black push button next to it and a red LED on the top. Is there something I'm missing? When I talked to autoalarmpro (I ordered the CA630 & GMBP from them) a while back when I first tried to hook the CA630 up, the technician sounded puzzled as to why did I have a bypass mod. without a jumper? Could I have recieved an old set of instructions that came with a newer bypass mod., as the tech suggested.

Was that my hint to go and get another bypass mod?

Note: after hearing the reliability of T-taps here and on other forums, I cut all off those off and connected bare wires. I'll solder everything, if and when I get this thing to work like it's supposed to. Code Alarm CA630? -- posted image.

Yeah that doesn't sound right. It says GMBP right on the large yellow sticker on the unit? You should have four pins between the wiring harness and the LED and a jumper on 2 of the four pins. If you don't then you need to contact the seller and get a replacement. Maybe that unit was returned or someone peeled off the labels between 2 different bypasses and returned that one in it's place. Unless they revised the unit but i wasn't aware of that happening. Tell them you need a new GMBP.

If you figure out what unit you actually have there we may be able to make it work if it's compatible.

Yeah, my sticker was like an orange color that said GMBP. No jumpers or anything but a little black button next to the harness. Well in all my anger & frustration I went to CC & brought a DEI 555lw....and 10 minutes later I had the RS working perfectly.

I'll try to get my money back from autoalarmpro, but I don't see that happening as I cut the wires and the sticker's half off cause I used double sided tape to stick it to the brain.
