Hey guys i put a prestige aps996a remote start on a 2002 ford explorer and i bypassed the anittheft the old school way with an extra key and i tagged the gem module into the unlock wire and for some reason the remote start will only start with the alarm disarmed?  Any ideas

Is your unit set to unlock before start? That's the only way I can see the alarm disarming hooked up that way.
Doesn't that system have a factory disarm output wire? Use that rather than tying unlock into factory disarm.

it doesn't even try to start when the unit is armed lcd shows it is trying to start chimes but never starts and never shows on lcd.

it does not unlock before start and it doesn't have a factory disarm output wire.
