1998 infiniti QX4 - weird?

this QX4 had transponder keys, but they were empty! no sign of any chips glued around the key cylinder either.  anyway, I'm in the middle of slaping in a remote start but the vehicle has a week battery(drops below 10volts at second ing turn on of the remote start/at crank also, R/Smodule sences the dip and kicks out. so much for the easy voltage sencing - got to go with the tach pulse, or tell the cust to get a new batt.  anyone have any luck with the blue wire at the dist? I'd rather not get behind the glove box for the eng mod. always did voltage sence with this vehicle in the past but they all had stronge batteries. anyother tips/heads ups/feed back  would be appr.

PS: R/S works fine for the first few times in a row then fails.

No matter how you decide to wire it, defintely advise your customer to get his battery tested.  Otherwise, when the battery turns to total junk on the next cold morning, he's going to blame you, since you were the last one to work on his car. 

I always protect myself by saying something like:  "I noticed your battery looks like an original NIssan one, and batteries generally last three to five years.  Since your car is now five model years old, you'll want to see about getting your battery tested, and possibly replaced."

As far as the keys----my only guess is that the customer went to get new keys made, and the dealer/locksmith was out of "regular" keys.  They probably had to give the customer the transponder-style keys, but they decided to save the transponders for whatever reason.
