I have a truck with a remote starter and the starter has a Power trunk button. I would like to make a relay that would light my cargo light for @ 2-3 minutes using the trunk button so I could see in the truck box without opening the doors. I would really like a unit that would 1 click on 1 click off and when on shut off auto automatically after 2-3 minutes as well as shut off when truck is started. Anything like this out there or does somebody have a diagram to make this with electonic parts

Hi Xcr600,
I'm going to assume that the trunk open output of the reciever box is +12v only while you have the button on the remote pressed. The best thing that I can think of is an illuminated entry relay from a early to late 80's Chrysler product. Look behind the glove box on any K-body based New Yorker or Lebaron. These relays have a delay of about 45 seconds or so, (this can be modified) and a kill wire-
if this wire sees +12v before the 45 seconds, it will shut off. connect this lead to a switched ignition source. Be sure the relay is grounded, and has a constant +12 volt source (fused) for the load. I'm not sure of the pinout- if I find it, I'll post it. As far as the "click on/click off" idea, I can't think of anything easy. You may be able to build a flip-flop, and integrate the timer into the design. Check to electronic books at RadioShack. I've used the Chrysler illuminated entry relays for many things, but remember that thay can only handle about 2 amps, the contacts can weld closed if this is exceeded.
Good luck, RG
