i have a '91 sundance (yeah, i know it's an old car, but it was my first one, plus i enjoy tinkering w/it, trying to figure out how things work).
i'm having problems with my head unit. when i got the car, the 2 rear speakers didn't work. then the front, left speaker went so i replaced it. a little while after that, it would crackle noisily at random times, like when i rolled down the window or turned the steering wheel hard (so i figured the problem was in the wiring there). now, the right, front speaker went dead and the left, front one is only audible when the volume is turned all the way up... and even then, it's mainly a static-crackle.
i've checked all the speakers and none of them are blown, i've also checked the wiring and it's all still good, i've also checked the fuses for the radio and they're good too... so that means the problem is in the head unit, right?
does anyone know what in the head unit might cause speakers to fail systematically like that and, if so, how to fix it? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

if you've verified that the speakers are indeed good, then that only leaves a problem in the CDM unit... It's the tuner/amp/logic box mounted up high under the dash.... parts haven't been available for these for quite some time... see if you can get one from an auto wrecker or else just replace the system with a good quality CD player and be done with it.....
