speaker whine

i just installed a new head unit in my vehicle and now i hear a whine in my speakers.  mostly when my lights are on.  can someone tell me what that is and how i can get rid of it, if possible?

are your RCAs ran on the same side as your power? some people have problems with that.. some don't.. i'm one of the ones who don't!
how many watts is your system doing total? maybe you're putting too much stress on the alt...
coudl be a bad ground even?

You have a bad ground somewhere, it could be the amp ground, it could be the head unit, it could be inside of the head unit if it is a Pioneer, post the system and the equipment installed.
