I have a 2006 frod expedition & I have a sirius "plug & play" unit I want to permanently mount in my car.

I'm tired of tying up the cig. lighter with powering the sirius as I want my phone charger there.

SO, How can I hard wire the sirius to a constant 12 volt supply w/o/ using the lighter?  Can I use the fusebox?  How?  Other options?

thanks

tj

You can hardwire the unit into the constant 12volt line under the steering column or even better is to run both the power and ground from the Sirius unit to the backside of the cig. plug. It is a easy connection to make on the backside of the plug.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Hey, I did this with an XM setup, and checked out the male cig plug itself, which had some circuitry in it, resistors, and a fuse i believe. So you might want to buy a little female cig adapter, then run those wires to a 12v source. Because if I did that with the 6v that XM unit ran on, I dont think it woulda been good. just be on the look out.
