Does anyone have any information about these? specifically as an alternative to multiple alternator setups? I am looking to replace my 1995 BMW 325is alternator and can put in a 140A one right now but want more. I know that vehicles that need higher output alternators use water cooled ones sometimes.

I have only found one instance of a compact automotive water cooled alternator but can't find any availablility or pricing info. heres the link:

Another good option is high output with heatsinks but I wouldn't understand why you need one for? I good dual battery setup is a good option and cheaper. My system draws 220A@12.3V off a 13 plate battery just fine.

Well someone who was trying to do a favor for me was going ot suprise me by buying me a new optima red top for my car and putting it in, but managed to put the connections on backwards (yeah I know...) which fried my alternator. So while I have to replpace it anyways I figured I would beef it up while I was at it. I want to do a dual battery setup up as well but am worried my 140A factory alternator wont be enough to keep the system charged. I know its probably fine but I'm not one who likes to do something twice (like replace my alternator) so I figured i'd just do it now and not have to worry about that possibility.

140A is more than enough to charge 2 batteries as essentially the alternator runs everything and will only draw on the batterries when more current is required.

With a lower amp alternator it will take longer to charge more than one battery than one with higher output - simple as that hehe.

with 2 fosgate 225.2 and a pa5422 and another 150ish W system I will be drawing around 100A which leaves only 40A to run my vehicle systems. If i upgrade my sub amps then I will be critically short. Now this is assuming full draw all the time, but I would like a little more buffer just in case. But no one knows about any water cooled alternators huh?
