Ya they're the same price on crutchfield and I'm wondering whats the difference between an AVIC-d1 and an AVIC-D2

The D2 has upgraded mapping and other navigation functions. Hardware is the same though

I was under the impression that the D2 would have an improved Ipod interface over the D1, but reading this:

"(Note: the AVIC-D2 controls the iPod Adapter as an Unexpected unit, with some limitations in display and operation. Consult the owner's manuals for more details.)"

here...

Pioneer D2 info

...leads me to believe that's not the case.

The D2 has upgraded mapping and other navigation functions. Everything else is the same, including the bad ipod display. The N3 and Z1 have a nice ipod display so maybe they will fix it next year
