Just lifting the handle on a ford will not cause the alarm to activate.  As far as I know the only vehicles where that would happen is some older gms where the door trigger is actually built into the handle. On a ford you'd have to actually open the door to trigger the alarm.

however; on my 97 explorer if you tie into the domelight, lifting up on the driver's door handle does turn on the domelight in effect it could trigger the alarm. the horn honking was the factory alarm. if you lock the doors with any door (including rear hatch) open ,it arms the factory alarm. unlocking with an aftermarket and not hooking up factory alarm disarm will set it off.

Notes: Arms on lock only with door open. It is necessary to send a signal to door trigger as well as lock to arm factory alarm.

i tried hooking up the factory disarm with no luck. this is really starting to annoy me. if i unlock with my Avital remote, and then unlock again with my factory remote will that prevent the factory alarm from going off? .. i'm ready to take the damn horn out =/

Have you verified that the factory disarm wire is functioning properly?
To test it...arm the truck with factory remote and the window down (or press lock on the door with the door open). Give it 15 seconds, reach in and open the door from the inside handle. When the alarm sounds, unlock the door using the KEY in the driver's door cylinder. If this does disarm the alarm then it is operating properly. Once you have verified that this shuts the alarm off, verify that you are on the correct wire, by metering it while turning the key. This wire will show - when the key is turned to unlock if all is well.
