Be nice to know the Brand & Model Number??
Most Aftermarket Alarms have a Valet Switch of some sort that will Disable the Alarm for that purpose

Thanks for your quick reply, the viper 791xv.

For example, while parking the car in my garage I do not want the alarm to be triggered by a cat jumping all over my car and causing some disturbance to my neighbours, some scare my service man while under maintenace. I am not sure the valet switch but it beeps(siren) while you change the settings

Open a door.  Hit lock button, then unlock button, then lock button again.  Led will light solid.  Alarm is now in velt mode.  To take it out dod it again.
