I have a 98 S-10 2.2L 5-spd. I want to add a pin switch or something to that effect. I want it to set off the alarm when the tailgate opens. Is it possible and how would I do it?

Would I just T-tap into the door pin switch? Its a neg signal.Would I just use one wire for the pin switch?

Ahhh I see.

Why not use just the pin switch and have my taligate push against it. (like dome lights and the pin switch in the doors).

Why use the reed switch?

so should I use a positive in the switch since it is already grounded? Will I need a relay since my door trigger is negitive?
