I put an Avital 4000 on a '05 Rendezvous a couple weeks ago. The customer called back today saying that his navigation wasn't working. Any ideas? The remote start shouldn't have anything to do with that, right? I didn't disconnect the battery or the head unit or any other factory system, so I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the NAV not engage or just not working in the sense that the NAV is giving wrong information ?

Not sure. A guy I work with took the call and told me about it when I stopped in to get a few tools. I'll ask about it again when I go to work thursday. He made it sound like the nav system didn't work at all. I know that the sat radio and regular audio functions worked when the car left the bay, but I didn't sit and test the nav system.     But, I can't think of what I could've done with the remote start/keyless that would affect the nav system.

I looked at the Rendezvous today, and the nav was giving the wrong info. For some reason it thought it's position was about 250 miles off. I'm from southern Illinois and the nav system said I was in southwest missouri. Any ideas on what the problem is, more specifically, is there any way installing a remote start(Avital 4200) would affect this. I'm stumped.

Try unplugging the Avital's antenna and seeing if the Nav. gains it's bearings (used to be an issue on the odd GM's compasses that were in the mirrors).
Never know....

Remove the fuse for the Avital system as well to see if this helps.

If the Nav system works, but shows an incorrect postion then the problem is most likely with the GPS antenna for the Nav system. As long as the vehicle tracks while moving, the GPS antenna probably needs replacing. Make sure that you haven't obstructed the antenna in any way or put any electronic module or relay close to it. Did you also power the brown wire in the ignition harness as a second accessory. This must be done on these vehicles.

Is the brown, second-accessory wire being powered with remote start? If not, try doing that.

To my memory, I did connect this wire. When using the remote start, everything powers on(heat, radio, etc..) like normal. Would this affect the unit when started with the key? Where exactly is the GPS antenna on this vehicle? I placed the Avital antenna by the rear view as close to the headliner as I could.
