What is this worth to you? 00 Tahoe

This guy calls me and wants to have alot of stuff installed.  Im trying to come up with a price that is decent for him but still worth my time.  I work at a shop, but I am doing this install for a guy who lives back home (hour and a half away) when I go in for a couple days. 

He wants the following installed in a 2000 Tahoe- In dash tv/dvd player- 2 Comp sets- A couple amplifiers- Stinger battery- 4 Subs-Remote start/keyless/alarmOf course this means all wiring, and a few parts.  I want to get a better idea of what other install rates on this would be.

Is this for a friend, or just someone looking for someone to hook up his stuff?  What kind of equipment is it, quality stuff, of crap?  If it is good stuff, all new, I would do it for $500-$600, that is if it is pre-fab boxes, if you have to make a box, $800-$1000.  You gotta figure what this guy would pay if he went to a local shop or one of your Major chain stores, and make your price off of that.  Sure it may sound like a lot of cash, but if you are a professional installer and you do quality work, then there is a price for that.  You have to pay a big price to your mechanic, plumber, or electrictian, why not an installer?  All you are paying for is the knowledge and experience, and knowing that if there is a problem, there is someone you can call. 

this is subject to profit on the equipment. and what type of install...custom box...does the tv have a hideaway unit. circiut breakers or fuses...and subject to what  grade of install accessories and wires.    sry but this is too vague to answer.    XS

the tv is a clarion, nothing hard about it really.  not sure about the comps or anything as far as name brand, I know its all good stuff though because he paid a pretty penny for it from a custom shop.  they built him a box, charged him 350 for the box.  I work as an installer as my full time job, so I had a pretty good idea of what I thought I should charge for it, but he is one of those friendly type people to me.  He said the shop he bought everything from quoted this as being a 5 hour job, which for one installer is total BS.  I can throw remote starts in quickly, but it still would take around an hour and a half for this vehicle, then installing all the other equipment.  This is what I was looking for in an answer though, since I know him I was thinking about charging 300 and letting it go.   Thanks for the help.

I'd say charge him out about 10-12 hours of your time ( what you think it's worth ) but still make it worth his time to get you to do it, otherwise there wouldn't be any advantage for your friend to get it done through you if your more expensive than the local shop. Charge him for all wiring, interconnects & supplies required for the instalaltion and call it a day. Not sure on what your hourly rate is at your shop or what the shop rate is at the store you work at, but a fair price would be 1/2 of the charge rate of your shop ( or which ever is higher ). Chances are you as an installer are not getting paid 1/2 of shop rate and will be a good price to charge to your friend.Jeff
