I did a remote start/keyless on an 02 jeep grand cherokee about a week ago and used a peripheral DLJP1 data bus module for the locks.  It came back the other day and the locks were doing crazy things.  I tried another module but it did the same thing.  Installation is pretty straight forward.  I double checked all connections, not much to screw up.  Has anyone else used the DLJP1 from periperal?  What about the DEI module??  Any help would be appreciated.

I have not used one of these systems from either company, but I used one for a 2003 Jeep and I always make sure that the GROUND wire is straight to the frame of the interior. The GROUND will always play stupid games with electronics if not absolute.

I'm with Jeff on checking the ground.

I know that it's good installation practice to hook up ground first and constant last....or at least leave the fuses out until last........but I tend to hook things up in whatever order is more convenient for me, which usaually means constant is hooked up first.  I haven't had any issues because of this, just weird things like the siren gurgling at 1/10 intensity until you get the ground hooked up; stuff like that.

Anyway, I was doing my sister's boyfriend's '98 Grand Cherokee, with DEI's 455T interface.  At one point, I had constant hooked up, databus hooked up, and ground not hooked up.........all the databus-operated functions like the overhead compass and steering wheel radio controls weren't working properly.....once I ground all my stuff, all was back to normal..........so I can definitely say that a poor ground will make odd things happen on the databus.

Also, the instructions for all the modules sold on transponderbypass.com tell you to hook up EVERYTHING else first, and the databus wire last......that's what I do now, and it seems to work out well.
