I just put a CD player in my 93 Grand Am, and when you turn it on, it lights up and looks like it should when it's working.  But there's no sound coming from the factory speakers.  They are wired up right, but someone told me I need to bypass my factory amp in order for the speakers to work with my CD player.  How do I find the factory amp?   THANK YOU so much...

Thank You!

So if it does have one, that would be what is causing my speakers to have no sound? Or something else?
Thank You!

what kind of radio is it?? What does the radio have on it? I don't remeber an amp being in there, but you can tell by the wires in the back of the radio

My Personal Installer Note: Connectors are easy, neat, and professional. But do you know how to crimp properly?

I never heard of an older Grand Am with a factory amp. If your radio has power and it lights up, but there is no sound check your speaker one of them must be touching to ground . Test with a multimeter or unplug one at a time. very common problem. Good luck

Only certain 99 and newer Grand Ams are the ones with factory amps.  They are located in the driverside of the trunk behind some of the carpeting.

I'm a moderator on the Grand Am Owners club web site and this is something that comes up alot. Check us out if you have any more Grand Am related questions.
