I'm installing a viper 160xv in a 2006 Ford F-250 Superduty
Diesel. I hooked the tach wire to the GREEN / WHITE wire in the harness above the e-brake. The wire tests ok bit the viper won't program that wire properly. Does anyone have any ideas or a better tach wire to connect to?

This wire is the best source for tach signal. if you have a problem with it programming, it is in the unit, programming procedure,  or the install. Going anywhere else would be a waste of time.

set the starter for 4 second crank and no engine checking.
it has built in anti-grind.

We can't even get that to work. We've been using DEI tach generators on those, as DEI recommended. No problems. But when we use Audiovox remote starts, that GREEN / WHITE works fine. No comebacks.

I had this problem with an Audiovox 1 button I tried other locaations off the ecu but none of them worked. Even tried a pulse timer. For the Ford factory remotestarts they have a tach signal generator. Didnt work for me but maybe for you. Finnaly tech support said the lower models couldnt read the tach on the 06 f150 and had to upgrade to a rs/keyless.I dont know if this helps you with the Dei as we only work with Audiovox .
