ProStart Remotes?

I have a question specific to these remotes, if any one is knowledgeable about them. I've installed a few of them now without any problems so far but I am curious about the tach signal.

Does the unit look for a dc voltage or an ac voltage signal?

The reason I ask is that a Viper remote I recently installed did not need a tach hook up and determined that the car was running from the voltage it recieved internally - therefore dc volts. If the prostart looks for dc volts, then the tach wire could be hooked up to some other wire that would show say 14+ volts when the car had started making for a more positive starting signal in colder weather.

Jeff suggested hooking to an injector feed,( which would be dc voltage), as an alternate spot. If that were OK, then could you not just tie the tach lead to one of the 12v feeds to the unit from the ignition switch and have the same results ??

The Viper had a tach mode that could be switched off. When off it was in voltage sense and picked up the voltage internally - no tach or voltage sense wire externally needed. Kind of handy and seems to work OK - no complaints yet - 2 weeks ago install.
