measuring amp power

Can i measure the output of an amp with a multi meter or would that damage something, its just that I don't have any specs for my amp for running it at two channels at 2 Ohms, it is a Saga audio Usa HG-7450 1800w Max I have tried to find info on the net but have had no luckBryzaaa

Is this it?  Looks like 80 watts X 4 @ 2ohms.Support the12volt.com

What you can do, other than bench-testing the amplifier, is to set the gain to match the head unit output by using the hearing test.  Find threads with pertinent info within this thread.  Once the gains are set, the amplifier will be outputting cleanly at full capacity.  Without knowing the manufacturer's test data on power output, you would then have to use an ammeter (not a multimeter) to test for current to the amplifier at highest output.  Then you could use Ohm's Law formulas to determine power output based on knowledge of the supply current and the resistance (use impedance) of the load.  See a chart in this thread, or go to the source here.  Find threads about ammeters here.Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
