I just bought a '96 Grand Prix SE 2 door. The car is in really nice shape and i got it for a good price. I have a few stereo related questions, hopefully someone here has experience working on these cars.
First off. Am i going to be able to fit my 6.5" comp set in the doors? From what i can tell without taking the door apart is that this car has 4" or 5 1/4" speakers in the doors with a separate tweeter. The speakers are located in the middle of the doors, and it doesnt look like i can cut holes closer to the bottom due to a storage compartment that is attached to the whole bottom half of the door.
Secondly im planning on deadening the trunk before i install everything. Im planning on doing the trunk lid, the back of the trunk, and between the trunk and taillights. Should I also do the sides and maybe under the rear shelf (im worried the last will result in loss of bass inside the car).
I would like to get the system in this car ASAP. Its finally gettin warmer and I cannot be without my system in the warm weather.

its a set of 5 1/4 components, i have made rings to fir 6 1/2 's, its a tight squeeze with the door panel but it will work if you cut the spacer/adapter right.
If you say "I already know how", don't ask me a single question.

You'll want to take a spin around the Clubgp forum.  I have an '04 Grand Am and get a ton of helpful info from the Grand AM Owners Club.  I think you'll find yourself there a lot.  Check out their car audio sectoin and read through the faq at the top, that has answers to a lot of questions.

Thanks for the help guys. Ill check that site out. Im going to do the tailights because that was the biggest rattaling problem on my Lumina. Is there any place i can buy spacers for the 6.5s or will I need to make them? Stupid GM has to make everything difficult...
