Im installing a remote start alarm on 2000 grand am and its kickin my butt. everything is working properly except the remote start.
i used the 555LW to bypass the passlock and it is working properly.
when i remote start the car, it starts and runs for a few second then shuts down. So i checked the tach and that was reading properly.
after the gauges and lights all light up then they go to thier operating position the car shuts off.
on the remote start harness i wired:
starter kill unit/starter - yellow wire
ign- pink wire (do both pinks have to be used)
ign 2- dk. green
acc- orange
12v- red
i noticed on the directfax sheet it says be sure not to unplug the factory radio! the customer had already removed it. could that be the problem (desperate thought lol)
is there any wire that i missed that has to be connected, or that would cause the unit to do this? any suggestions would help!!!

what did you hook the tach wire up to?  Could be the tach is jumping momentarily, cause the r/s to shut down because of over rev protection.  If all else fails try running it tachless and see what happens.  I don't normally have problems with that car, but once in a while it oculd happen.

what kind of remote start do you have. if a DEI look at the shutdown diagnostice, that tell if not enough RPM or over-rev shutdown.
have you tried to put the key in the IGN then try to remote start it, to doulb check the 555LW

Key in the igniton when remote starting won't have any affect.  The chip is in the keycylinder not in the head of the key like transponder systems.
