On the base of my sub it says 3 Ohm + 3 Ohm in the manual it says 3.7 each and on the manufacturers website it says 4+4. I don't know which to go by

your reading to much into figures, there just avgs. Don't worry about it. Consider your speaker 4 ohm dvc and wire them as such you will need to wire the coils in series. just lower the gains so it won't push that much power. RMS means the avg power it uses. The max of something is usually double that so your sub should be fine if you just set the gain low.

don't you mean wire them in parralell, not series as with series  I should have 4 times less power there for no need to lower gain so much?
