I have a 550 ESP in my van & I want to install a 550 ESP in my wifes new Escape,my question is, can I use my remote to lock , unlock, & start her car & can she do the same with her remote on my car?

I have spoken with two DEI dealers & they can not give me a answer, they both said it should be possible & when I asked them what buttons on the remotes will control what they both were not sure.

My question is simple, I know what buttons to press on the remote for each car, but what buttons do I use from my remote to lock, unlock & start the other car.

Thanks,

Norm

some companies allow you to program the second vehicle to the first transmitter (should say in instructions)and typically
when putting the first transmitter onto the second vehicle whereas you would say press the lock button when programming
the transmitter on the first vehicle, when adding the same transmitter to the second vehicle you would press
the trunk button.
then when you wanted to use transmitter 1 on vehicle 2 you would first press the trunk button, then the command you wanted.
I know this is true for most Autostart, Command Start, Prostart units.
See programmin a new transmitter in the instruction book, most code learning transmitters are the same

on the dei remote starts you can program as many things to a single remote as you want, depending on how many chanells it has. Say you have a 4 button 16 channell remote -- I II III IV. You could do I will lock car 1, II unlock car 1, III lock car 2, IV unlock car 2, I and II will start car 1, III and IV will start car 2. Then you could do say I and III for trunk release on car 1 and II and IV for car 2.
