My brother-in-law wants to take the factory amp out of his 98 Grand Caravan with the infinity system. But we can't find the damn thing. I've look around on the net and all I've found is that is either in the rear quarter panel or behind the dash, but I want to be certain before I go look for it.

Does anyone have any idea as to where the amp is on this Caravan?

Some of the factory Infinity speaker systems have the amp attached direct to the speaker themselves. The Caravan I did yesterday had this done to the door speakers.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

This one doesn't have the amps on the speakers, at least not on the ones on the dash. And I know the ones on the dash are amplified because if you don't connect the amp remote they are silent. Also they are a little beefier than the regular coaxials on the dash( bigger magnet and basket.

I checked behind the rear quarter panels and there are no amps there. This got to be the one with the amp behind the dash. The problem with that is that if it's there is behind the air handler.

Well  guess I'll have to run new wires to each speaker.

Try looking behind trim panel passenger side to the rear of the sliding door. I believe there is an opening for a speaker. amp may be in there.  Its been awhile since I have had to open up a caravan. Hope this helps ya...

I did take that hole panel out already and the only thing in there is the air handler for the back , and the rear 6x9 and tweeter. Ohh and the motor for the rear window next to the tweeter.

Have you tried to call a dealer (service) and see if they would be kind enough to look it up for ya. If I get a chance I'll ask my connection at one of my dealerships.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

I would just run new wires to the speakers but my brother-in -law is one of those people that want things their way and he wants to keep the damn factory amp.

I've taken both rear panels and still can't find the amp and if it is in the front then he'll have to find a way to get to it because I'm not taking that dash out just to get to the amp.
