I would like to know if I have an amp or an RCA problem.  When I hook up the RCA's into my amp the amp goes into protection mode.  What can be the cause of this problem?  Thanks in advance.

Grab a cheap short RCA and plug into the amp only, not into the Head Unit. If the amp goes into protection, it's the amp. If not it's the RCAs.
There is no such thing as free installation!

It sounds like your RCA cables have a short circuit in them. If they aren't plugged into anything at the other end, then throw them out and get new ones. If they are plugged into something then that may be the cause. Most amps won't go into protection though if you short the two connections on the RCA out. It just gives the amp a zero input. You may have pinched an RCA or shorted it to power somewhere.
