I've installed the unit and think the wiring is ok. When I start programming the transmitter:
    hood switch 4 seconds
    parking lights turn on
    hood switch on, off again
key on, parking lights go off ok
but then go back on (2 or 3 seconds later) no matter how or when I try the key off, on, off, lock button twice within 3 seconds, I don't get the 5 flashes of parking lights!! only 2 flashes
tried going past this step but no luck
any ideas?

You have to watch out with ProStart's..... about 1/2 of the ones that I got suckered into installing for friends didn't work properly out of the box. Here are some tips though:

  • make sure that the valet switch is OFF ( for CT-3100 models )
  • make sure you toggle the valet switch OFF then ON ( on CT-3160M models )

Which model are you guys talking about? Do you have a link to them, I was looking into getting a few Prostart units to test and I want to make sure they are not the ones Jeff is referring to as being Bad out of the box.

ive installed probably about 60 of these things this season and havent had a problem yet. aside from the fact that the installation manual is written wrong about programming tach rate. last years model however was not as good, you had a 50/50 shot of the unit working right out of the box. just my 2 cents.
