Did you go back through programming? If not then disconnect the unit for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and then reprogram the unit by starting the car and letting it run for about 5 seconds. If you did then the unit may have some bad solder joints and you should exchange it. Also more specifically the ground should go to the passlock ground wire in the ignition harness, this wire is listed in the installation manual for the 555L ( I think it is a small gauge black wire).
