First I did an extensive search, read many of the dual battery isolator posts, but I still have a question unanswered, and it has to do with Imports with built in regulators in the alternators and isolators.

I have a Scion xB and I'm putting in a dual battery isolator. (please don't tell me just parallel them or use a 200amp relay, even though they are great suggestions I still want to use my isolator). I am using my factory alternator (for now until I get the HO one) with the built in regulator. I am supposed to tap the IG (ignition wire that is on the alternator) wire so  the alternator will charge the batteries. My question is: where do I hook up that IG wire to? my isolator only has 3 posts, Alternator, Batt 1, and Batt 2.

any help on this would be great!

thanks,

Bill

That particular isolator won't work in your car. I'm fairly certain you have to have a 4 terminal isolator. Now, since you can't use the isolator you have, and you'll need to buy one that WILL work, forget the isolator, and just parallel the batteries and be done. battery isolator and imports -- posted image. This is a better solution anyway.
Why do you think you MUST have an isolator? They are power-robbing, battery-killing, money sinks. Leave any form of isolation out, and call it a day!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
