I recently installed an alpine head unit in my friends 1987 oldsmobile delta 88. After installation was complete, i cant seem to get the antenna to come up, and ive also lost dash lights and parking lights (night-time rear driving lights). Any suggestions as to what i should do for the lights/antenna?
p.s.: i havent done a thing yet, i know to check fuses first, but i thought id get some feedback before i start problem solving.

did you hook up any illumination wires? Did you use a aftermarket harness to wire the cd player to and plug it into the car? Did you hook up the power antenna wire from new cd player to harness?

The problem with the dash/parking lights is common as the illumination wire will test as a ground with the lights off.  The power antenna wire is not being supplied power.  You will probably need to replace a fuse or two to get the lights back.  Hopefully the dimmer switch is okay.

You need to use a wiring harness for that vehicle to avoid confusion.  You can get these at the stereo shop, or even Wal-Mart or the parts store.  Then connect the wires color for color and plug it into the factory harness.  This should take care of the above problems.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
