I am trying to install a subwoofer but here is my problem. The head unit I have only has four wires for speakers (two pairs one front and rear). There are not any subwoofer output RCA plugs. Next the amp only accepts rca jack inputs. Can I connect the two wires (a singel channel) to a rca jack? Lastly If I can make this connection work how do I filter out the mids and highs so the sub will only see the lows. On the amp there is a switch labeled subwoofer and it has a off/120/80 positions. Will this filter the highs out?

You will have to get a line out connector. Takes your speaker wire and turns it into a RCA Output.

The 120/80 is for what frequency you want the sub to recieve.

Or you may want to just get another head unit.

I have rca plugs from radio shack which you solder the wires to. Can I used these or does a line out connector have more to it than just the connector

No, that will not work. You need a converter to change the speaker-level signal from your head unit into a line-level signal. If your amp has "high-level" inputs you can connect the speaker wires from your HU that way.
